Rafiki - Dawna's Boy

*Luke is a six year old, ½ Chilean, ½ Peruvian Huacaya intact male alpaca. He has beautiful, soft, crimpy dense fiber with a micron count of 19.3 which is great for spinning luxurious yarn. *Bollero is a 1 year old, part Chilean, part Peruvian Huacaya intact male alpaca. He has extremely fine, chestnut colored, heavily crimped, soft fiber baby fleece of 18.2 micron count from head to toe. His fiber is so luxuriously fine and soft, that you may need to blend it with another more dense fiber to keep it from flying away while drafting.

Peaceful Breeze Bollero

When we decided to introduce Alpacas to the farm, we visited with our friend Isabelle Acampora of Alpacas-4-Pets.com in Coxsackie,NYand became aquainted with Iggy and Luke, at her farm. We looked at one other that day and almost took all three, but had reached our buget figure with these two friendly guys. Later on, Isabelle called about a Cria for sale in Monticello for an outstanding price, so Vick, Isabelle and I picked up Bollero last year in April.

Special Blended Alpaca Yarn

All of Vicki's yarns are hand spun by her, usually coming from our own animals. or a few Romney sheep belonging to a neighbor down the road. In any event, Vick and I process our own fiber here on our farm, running it through our picker, then across the carding machine or perhaps we will card it by hand. It then becomes bats, which Vick then hand dyes with all natural dyes. Next, she will turn those pretty bats into beautiful spun yarn like you see on the left. Occassionally, Vick might pick up some fiber, bats or roving from a local fiber processing facility down the road, but if she does, it will be noted in the item description and priced accorndingly.
